Moved off the Patoka for a reason -- and storms still find it
Princeton exists because Gibson County's original seat at Patoka sat too low along the Patoka River, prompting commissioners to relocate the county seat to higher ground in 1814. Higher ground reduces river-flood exposure, but as the largest of Evansville's eight surrounding towns, Princeton still sees the same severe storm systems that move through the wider region.
A larger town, more roofline, more storm exposure
As Gibson County's biggest town in this group, Princeton has more total building stock -- and more roofline, gutters, and grading -- exposed to wind-driven rain and storm water than its smaller neighbors. Water extraction and storm damage cleanup here needs to scale to that larger, more varied building inventory.
